Understand Ourselves
Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.
Carl Jung
Medical News Today has a short article on “Why do mosquito bites itch and swell up? .” The too long; didn’t read (tl;dr) version is that when a mosquito bites us, it injects a little bit of its saliva into the wound to increase blood flow. That causes our body’s immune system to protect against the attack with histamine. And the antihistamines sometimes recommended to treat mosquito bites are actually treating a symptom our body’s immune system causes in reaction to the mosquito bite.
About the author
Carl Gustav Jung (German: [kaʁl ˈjʊŋ]; 26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. Jung’s work has been influential in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies. Jung worked as a research scientist at the Burghölzli psychiatric hospital, in Zurich, under Eugen Bleuler. During this time, he came to the attention of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. The two men conducted a lengthy correspondence and collaborated, for a while, on a joint vision of human psychology.
