Darkness Helps Us See Stars
I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.

In 1994 there was an earthquake in Los Angeles, California, that knocked out power for much of the city. During this blackout, L.A. residents called 911 when they saw the Milky Way for the first time (spoiler: they thought it was aliens). For those of us who live in regions blanketed by city lights at night, the US National Park Service has a stunning gallery of night sky photography. There’s so much beauty around us, it’s wonderful.
