Phaedrus
“A watched pot never boils” is a lie. If studious people didn’t watch and time various volumes of water over heat, how else would we have the ability to calculate how long it takes to boil water ? Possibly a handy browser bookmark is the “Water Boiling Time Calculator ” from the Volume Calculator site. For instance, four (4) cups of water will boil in 4-5 minutes on a gas stove, 6-7 minutes on an electric stove, and 3-4 minutes in an electric kettle.
About the author
Gaius Julius Phaedrus (c. 15 BC – c. 50 AD) was a 1st-century AD Roman fabulist and the first versifier of a collection of Aesop’s fables into Latin. Nothing is recorded of his life except for what can be inferred from his poems, and there was little mention of his work during late antiquity. It was not until the discovery of a few imperfect manuscripts during and following the Renaissance that his importance emerged, both as an author and in the transmission of the fables.
