Be a Laughing Sun
Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.
Victor Hugo
Many know that vitamin D is important for our health and our bodies can make it with the help of the sun. However, where you live and time of year is important. If you live above or below the 37 degrees latitude and it’s not summer, the skin isn’t able to produce much, if any, vitamin D because the angle of the sun isn’t optimal. (Nothing’s easy, is it?) During these non-summer seasons, be sure to source your vitamin D from foods and supplements to keep a healthy level of this “sunshine vitamin” in your system. Here’s a Harvard Health article that has a map of that 37th parallel and gives a layman’s overview including a list of some vitamin D rich foods. For those who really want the big science words, here’s a more in depth article from the National Library of Medicine .
